Salary Scale: 6 – Senior Officer Grade 2 (£22,937-£29,558 per annum)

We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join our busy Building Control Team in the delivery of a high quality customer focused service.
The successful candidate will be involved in the full range of duties undertaken by the team and you will be utilising your expertise in a variety of ways in this compact, diverse and interesting area.
It is very much a ‘hands on’ role, so you should be ambitious and enjoy getting involved in all aspects of building control. Your caseload would involve an interesting mix of domestic, industrial and commercial projects providing an excellent opportunity to develop your practical experience and skills.
Applicants should have a Higher National Diploma in a relevant field such as Building Construction. Applicants should also have in-depth practical experience in construction or a similar field and an understanding of the Building Regulations and associated legislation.
You will have excellent written and verbal skills and be able to organise your own workload to meet agreed targets and objectives as well as being able to work under pressure to strict deadlines; have good problem solving, analytical and IT skills, work well as part of a team, have a commitment to providing a high standard of customer care along with a self-motivated approach and first rate communication skills.  Experience of working within a competitive environment would also be an advantage.
You must have the ability to travel efficiently around the borough to conduct visits and attend meetings; a full UK driving licence and access to a car would be an advantage.

PART TIME RECEPTIONIST (average 11.375 hours per week)

CASUAL RECEPTIONIST (as and when required)
Salary – Scale 1/2 (£13,614 per annum, pro rata to hours worked)
Applications are invited for a Part-Time Receptionist to join our team at the Park Leisure Centre, where you will assist in running a friendly and efficient reception service. The position will require you to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends as follows:-
Week 1 (13 hours) Wednesday, 4.15 pm to 8.45 pm (4.5 hours)
Friday, 4.00 pm to 7.30 pm (3.5 hours)
Saturday, 11.45 am to 4.45 pm (5 hours)
Week 2 (9.75 hours) Wednesday, 4.15 pm to 8.45 pm (4.5 hours)
Sunday, 11.45 am to 5.00 pm (5.25 hours)
(Average 11.375 hours per week)
The casual post will provide cover for holidays and other absences, working on an “as and when required basis”. You may be asked to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends often at short notice.
You will receive and deal with telephone and personal enquiries at the Reception, ensuring a high standard of customer care at all times. In addition, the post holder will process all bookings, record all payments taken, balance receipts at the end of each shift and provide clerical support.
You should have experience of dealing with the public both in person and over the telephone and be computer literate. Good communication skills, the ability to work under pressure and a flexible approach to work is essential.  Previous cash handling and clerical experience would be an advantage.

Salary - Spinal Point 7 (£7.1088 per hour)
We are looking for enthusiastic people with strong water rescue skills, communication skills and confidence in dealing with large numbers of the public, to join our team of Recreation Assistants. The posts may require you to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends.  Please see the website below for more details on hours/shift patterns.
You will assist with the supervision of the pool(s), sports hall and other activity areas and you will be responsible for delivering a high standard of service and customer care. Essential duties will include ensuring a high level of cleanliness is maintained throughout the building.
An enthusiastic approach to work and an ability to communicate effectively with staff and customers is essential. You must have a good standard of health and have the ability to work as part of a team.
A current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification is essential. Please note that the Highfield lifeguard qualification is not accepted.
Experience of working in a similar environment is essential for the part time positions and would be an advantage for the casual position.
The successful candidate(s) of the contracted positions will be automatically enrolled in the Local Government Pension Scheme.  Casual staff will be eligible to enrol.

An opportunity has arisen for a full-time Housing Assistant working in the Operations Team within Barrow Borough Council’s Housing Service, contracted to September 2016. The role will be to support the team by being the first point of contact for customer enquiries to ensure our customers are dealt with professionally and effectively, and to provide clerical support.
The successful applicant will be customer-focused, self-motivated and a hard working team player, possessing excellent interpersonal skills to provide a first class service to our customers face-to-face and by phone.

Position: Traineeship leading to Apprentice (Football Development Officer / Coach / Admin)

Start Date: 18th August 2014 (Traineeship) & 29th September 2014 (Apprenticeship)

Starting Salary:    £4,940.00 per annum (fixed term contract until September 30th 2016)
Role Description
This exciting and unique post is funded by Lancashire Football Association Ltd and has been created for an enthusiastic, passionate and committed school leaver to be developed through a six week traineeship followed by two year full time post as an  Apprentice at Intermediate (Level 2 Qualifications) and Advanced (Level 3 Qualifications).
The Traineeship & Apprenticeship offers an unrivalled training package helping the right candidate to gain numerous qualifications and experience in football, sport and wider recreation.
The apprenticeship will be based within the Lancashire FA Development Department at The County FA Headquarters in Leyland.
We want to hear from young people who have a passion for sport, and in particular football, who want to make a difference and help increase participation in our national game, supporting Lancashire FA’s  proud history in local grass roots football.
The key work areas for the ‘Apprentice’ will be:
• To support Lancashire FA / The FA initiatives - administration & coaching, including the Lancashire FA Disability Player Development Centre, Lancashire FA Girls Player Development Centre and Lancashire FA North West Partially Sighted Regional Squad.
• To support local festivals such as School Games (Disability and Girls Football) including local Borough festivals, Lancashire FA Ability Counts, Clubs & League and Ability Counts Schools League.
• To support the day to day administration work within the County FA Development Office, including FA Charter Standard health checks, affiliation and disciplinary departments.
• To attend all training courses / days and attain qualifications provided whilst employed by Lancashire FA.
• Any other duties deemed relevant by your line manager.
• To be flexible and work some unsocial hours (evenings / weekends).
It is an essential requirement that you can evidence a genuine interest in sport/football and have some experience of leadership and volunteering. It is desirable that you have grades A – C GCSE in English & Maths.
The post is funded until the end of July 2016.
