Police ask for your views

Cumbria Constabulary and Cumbria Police Authority are carrying out a consultation exercise to find out what matters to the people living in Cumbria and to understand how policing services can be improved.

The information gathered will help to form the policing priorities for Cumbria in 2013-2014 and focus resources in the areas that are most important to the community.

The survey is carried out annually, but this year it is available for the first time online, which can be accessed by Cumbria Constabulary’s website – www.cumbria.police.uk.

The survey has four sections covering:
·       Your feelings of safety
·       Your views on Neighbourhood Policing
·       Your local concerns and service priorities, and
·       Getting in touch with us

Chief Constable Stuart Hyde said “We are pleased to be able to offer more people in our community a chance to be involved by having the survey online for the first time this year. It is a great opportunity for people to provide us with details about the issues that matter most to them.

“The survey only takes about ten minutes to complete so we would urge people to log on and share their opinions. The views of the people living in our county are very important to us and will help shape our policing priorities for the future.”

Lynda Shaw, Vice Chair of the Police Authority, said: “We need to know what you think about policing so I encourage as many of you as possible to join in and help shape the future of policing in Cumbria.

“This survey is also a good opportunity for the community to inform the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) what their thoughts are about policing in Cumbria. The people of Cumbria will elect their Police and Crime Commissioner on 15th November this year and this survey will help to inform them of their priorities for 2013/14.”

The closing date for completing the survey is Friday 31st August 2012.

If you would like the questionnaire in hard copy; another language or have any queries, please telephone Cumbria Constabulary’s Strategic Development department between 9am-5pm Tuesday to Friday on 01768 217343.
